Switch · 10 keyboards
Topre is the switch inside HHKB Professional, Realforce and Leopold FC660C boards. A slider presses a rubber dome over a cone-shaped spring, and the board senses the press by capacitance, with no metal contacts. You get a rounded bump near the top, a flat stroke after it and a low thock at the bottom. It suits people who type a lot and like a soft, quiet keystroke. On a used board, check that every key feels the same weight, since worn domes feel mushy, and remember most Topre boards won't take MX keycaps.
