China · 5 keyboards
NIZ, which also sells under the Plum name, is a Chinese maker of electro-capacitive keyboards. Its switches work the way Topre's do, with a slider pressing a rubber dome over a spring and no metal contacts to wear, and NIZ even sells its sliders and housings as compatible with Topre boards. The big practical difference is the stem. NIZ uses a cross-shaped MX-style stem, so any Cherry-compatible keycap set fits, which isn't true of a stock HHKB or Realforce. Most models come with 35g or 45g domes and ship with a bag of 10g and 20g add-on springs so you can make single keys heavier. The range runs from the 68-key Atom68 through the 82 and 84-key boards to the 99-key X99 and the full-size X108, and most come in a USB-only version and a Bluetooth version.
