Optical keyboards

Optical switches sense a press with light, so there are no metal contacts inside to wear or bounce. Keychron sold the K4 and K6 with LK optical switches as an alternative to Gateron. Deskthority notes that switches with contactless sensing on the circuit board can be swapped without special sockets. The feel depends on the stem, from linear to clicky. On a used board, confirm which optical switch it uses and whether spares are still easy to find before you plan to swap.
