The Hybrid is the full modern HHKB without the silencing. PFU launched it in December 2019 alongside the Classic and the Type-S, with a new case that has sharper edges and the logo moved to the top. It connects by USB-C or by Bluetooth to up to four devices, runs on two AA batteries when unplugged, and has DIP switches underneath plus PFU's Keymap Tool for remapping, with the layout stored in the board. The switches are standard Topre, so you hear the familiar Topre thock that the Type-S tones down. The hhkb.io wiki notes the Hybrid's domes feel a little lighter, with a softer bump, than older HHKBs, even though PFU still rates them at 45g. If you want Bluetooth and don't mind a bit of noise, this is the one.
SwitchTopre
Versions
The plain Hybrid has standard Topre switches with a 4.0mm stroke and no silencing rings. Its code has no S on the end. PD-KB800B is charcoal and PD-KB800W white, an N means blank keycaps, and PD-KB820 is the Japanese layout with arrow keys. The Hybrid Type-S looks identical, so the bottom label is the only sure way to tell. The older HHKB Professional BT of 2016 also used AA batteries, but its USB port only powered it and couldn't carry typing.
The switches themselves are rated for 50 million keystrokes, so spills and sticky keys cause more trouble than wear. Batteries left in the AA compartment can leak and corrode the contacts. Listings sometimes mix up the Hybrid and the Type-S, so the code matters more than the title.

Buying guide
We'd buy the open-box PD-KB800B, the charcoal Hybrid with printed US legends, at $197 delivered from a US seller, well under the $270–330 band. There are at least 26 listed, and Japan dealers selling new boards at $281–370 delivered set much of that band, while used US-layout boards from Japan start around $229 and US sellers start at $173. In the code, 800 is the US layout, 820 is Japanese with a short space bar, arrow keys and Japanese legends, and an N means blank keycaps. Ask for the bottom label with no S on the end, since the Type-S looks the same, and for a photo of the AA battery bay with the cover off to check for corrosion. The blank PD-KB800BN listings that share one title and stock photo across sellers need real photos of the board before you buy.
