The Shine was Ducky's backlit flagship for years, and the seventh generation is the heavy one. Its top case is zinc alloy, which Ducky says is three times stronger than aluminum, and the whole board weighs about 1.4 kg. Under the metal it's a full-size Cherry MX board on a dual-layer PCB with doubleshot PBT caps and bright 3528 RGB LEDs. It even supported Razer Chroma Broadcast for syncing lights. Settings live on the keyboard, and lighting software is available for Windows. RTINGS gave it superb marks for build quality and typing, and its one real complaint was a cheap USB-C cable, which you can replace with any decent one. The switches are soldered, so pick the board with the switch you want. Gunmetal is the standard finish, and the black Blackout started as a retailer exclusive. If you want a classic full-size Ducky that doesn't slide around, this is it.

Versions
Model DKSH1808ST. The standard finish is Gunmetal, and a Blackout version with a black zinc top was a retailer exclusive at first. A Christmas Edition shipped with dye-sub PBT caps. Ducky's manual says PBT or ABS caps depending on version. Switch options were Cherry MX Red, Brown, Blue, Black, Silent Red, Speed Silver and Nature White. The Shine 6 before it is a different board, so check the number in the listing.
The metal top case shows dents and chipped finish if the board has been dropped or shipped loose. Switches are soldered, so chatter means a repair.

Buying guide
Only three Shine 7s are for sale, so the $140–220 band isn't a market read. We'd buy the one titled tested at $88 delivered from a 99.8% seller; it doesn't name the switch, and since the switches are soldered, ask which Cherry MX color it has before you pay. The open-box board at $206 with free shipping comes with a 108 Pudding keycap set as titled, so you're paying for the box and the extra caps. The zinc top case dents and chips if it's dropped, so look at the corners in the photos, and ask for a keyboardtester.com video and a photo with every key lit in one color. Skip the zero-feedback seller in Australia asking $224 delivered.

The lowest of only three, titled tested at $88 delivered from a 99.8% seller. No switch is named, so ask which Cherry MX color it has, since the switches are soldered.
