Beijing Opera is the boldest of Varmilo's themes. The alphas are white with Chinese characters printed beside the English legends, the modifiers are dark grey with Chinese labels and red accents, and illustrated keys show opera costumes and swirling waves. On some boards the case itself is black with a gold wave pattern. There are even Varmilo desk mats named after opera heroines like Mulan and Consort Yu. Like Sakura and Sea Melody, it isn't a single model. You'll find it on the classic VA87M and VA108M with Cherry MX switches, on V2 and Bluetooth boards, on EC switch boards, and on newer hot-swap wireless models in TKL and full size. The keycaps are dye-sub PBT, so the art holds up to years of typing. Use the model code to sort out what's inside, then judge the board on its keycaps and case.

Versions
Beijing Opera is a theme sold on several boards. Varmilo lists it in 87 and 108-key sizes, and it appeared on the VA87M and VA108M with Cherry MX switches, the VA Series V2 and its Bluetooth version, the MA Series V2 and VPM108 with Varmilo EC switches, and the hot-swap wireless VPT87, VPT108, APT87 and APT108. TKL and full-size versions turn up about equally. The model code tells you which switches and connection you're getting.
The illustrated keys are what you're paying for, and they're the first to go missing or get swapped. Patterned cases show scratches and worn print at the corners.
New to used keyboards? How to check a used keyboard covers chatter, stabilizers, keycap shine and the rest in detail.
Buying guide
We'd buy the full-size MA108M at $82 delivered from a 99.9% seller, under the $85–140 band, as long as you want Varmilo's EC Rosery switches rather than Cherry MX. There are at least 7 Beijing Opera boards for sale and most ask $85–140 delivered, with VA87M TKLs at $77–118 and a sealed full-size board at $156 near the top. The model code sorts them out (VA87M and VA108M are Cherry MX, MA and VPM are Varmilo EC), and the photos should show the illustrated opera and wave keys, since they're the reason to buy this theme. The cheapest VA87M's photo shows black aftermarket caps, so ask whether the opera set comes with it. Skip the two Japan listings that share one photo and the V2 from a zero-feedback seller whose photo shows only the box.
$76.99est. delivered
The lowest ask here, a VA87M TKL with Cherry MX Black switches at $77 delivered from a 99.7% seller. The photo shows it lit up with black aftermarket caps, not the opera set, so ask whether the original caps come with it.

A full-size Beijing Opera at $82 delivered from a 99.9% seller, and the photo shows the whole opera set. It has Varmilo EC Rosery switches as titled, so it types differently from the Cherry MX boards and can't take MX switches.
