Minila is short for Minimal Layout, and it was Diatec's first 60% board when it arrived in early 2013. Its trick is a short space bar with an Fn key on each side, so either thumb can reach the second layer. Fn with E, S, D and F gives you arrows from the home row, and there are real arrow keys squeezed into the bottom right too. It has five rows and no function row, with 67 keys on the US board and 68 on ISO and JIS. It also had things the Majestouch 2 of the day didn't, like DIP switches, a detachable USB cable and a spare USB port for a mouse. Diatec called it the world's first double function keyboard. Switches are plate-mounted Cherry MX Brown, Blue, Black or Red. Pick the US layout if you can, because the ISO and JIS boards shrink the left Shift to 1u as well as the right.

Versions
The Minila Air is the Bluetooth version on AA batteries, with model numbers starting FFBT instead of FFKB. The Minila R Convertible is a later, different design with a new layout, doubleshot PBT caps and Bluetooth 5.1. ISO and JIS Minilas have 68 keys and a 1u left Shift, while the US board has 67 keys and a 2u left Shift.
The pad-printed ABS caps shine with use, and Filco has sold its own 72-key keycap sets made for the Minila. Six DIP switches can remap the Fn keys and Caps Lock, so a board that types oddly may just be set differently.

We'd buy the US Minila titled FFKB67M/EB with Cherry MX Brown at $56 delivered, the cheapest board here and the only one we'd call good value. Only four are listed, from $56 to $244 delivered, so the $80–230 band isn't a market read, and the two Japan dealer boards add $60–70 shipping. Pick the US 67-key layout if you can, because ISO and JIS boards shrink the left Shift to 1u and JIS adds Japanese legends. Ask for a typing test video with each Fn key held while pressing E, S, D and F, which should give you arrows from both sides. If anything types oddly on arrival, check the six DIP switches on the back, since all off is Diatec's factory layout.
